Job Overview

SAVIS is seeking experienced psychologists to join our roster of professionals providing MHPSS support to humanitarian and development workers globally. This roster will serve as a pool of experts who may be called upon to deliver services based on demand.

As a roster member, you will provide individual and group support to humanitarian workers coping with the emotional and psychological impacts of their work. You will also collaborate with organizations to strengthen their staff care strategies and contribute to fostering a culture of resilience and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Individual and Group Support: Deliver culturally appropriate psychological support tailored to the specific needs of humanitarian and development workers.
  • Design and Implement Interventions: Develop and apply evidence-based approaches to address challenges such as burnout, vicarious trauma, and stress-related difficulties.
  • Capacity Building: Facilitate training, workshops, and coaching sessions aimed at fostering emotional resilience and wellbeing.
  • Organizational Collaboration: Work with partner organizations to design and implement staff care policies and protocols.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Support needs assessments and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure the quality and impact of MHPSS interventions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a psychologist.
  • Certification to practice as a psychologist in your country of residence.
  • At least 2 years of experience providing MHPSS support in humanitarian, development, or emergency contexts.
  • Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Dari, Dutch, English, French, German, Hausa, Hindi, Italian, Kurdish, Lingala, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya, Urdu. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken in countries experiencing humanitarian emergencies, is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally sensitive care to diverse populations in complex environments.
  • Experience delivering remote psychological support through online platforms is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport in both individual and group settings.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Expertise in trauma-informed care and evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Experience in designing and implementing wellbeing programs in high-stress or crisis contexts.
  • Familiarity with organizational staff care frameworks and strategies.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for MHPSS interventions.
