Founder and President

Marzia Vigliaroni is a clinical and community psychologist whose career has been dedicated to mental health and psychosocial support in emergency contexts. With over twenty years of field experience, she has worked closely with international NGOs and the United Nations, transforming some of the toughest challenges into opportunities for personal and community growth. As co-founder of the first Masters Programme in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Humanitarian Settings in French, Marzia has developed a compassionate and human-centered approach to psychological wellbeing. An expert in mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, and EMDR, she integrates these methods to support humanitarian workers and crisis-affected communities in rebuilding their resilience. Marzia passionately advocates for the power of human connection as a foundation for healing and wellbeing. She firmly believes that together we can build a future where mental health is prioritized, and psychosocial wellbeing is accessible to all.

Guido Veronese is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist specializing in individual and systems-based family therapy. He holds a degree in Clinical and Community Psychology from the University of Padua and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he is currently an Associate Professor. With extensive experience addressing extreme and collective trauma, Guido is an expert in supporting the mental health of humanitarian workers, focusing on burnout prevention and trauma treatment. As Technical Coordinator for Mental Health at SAVIS, Guido leads the development of innovative programs aimed at promoting the psychological wellbeing of frontline workers, often exposed to political violence, armed conflicts, and severe human rights violations.

Expert in Clinical Psychology and Trauma Resilience

Professor Eugene Rutembesa is a prominent figure in the field of clinical psychology and trauma resilience. A graduate of Saint Denis University (Paris 8), he has dedicated his career to researching and treating psychological trauma in Rwanda, with a focus on survivors of the 1994 genocide. In addition to his role as a full professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Rwanda, Eugene has held key positions such as Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Education, and has overseen the University’s Mental Health Center. He has trained and supervised hundreds of mental health professionals, collaborating with both local and international NGOs. Eugene is an active member of several international committees, including the Rwanda National Ethics Committee and the Institutional Review Board of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. Since 2020, he has served as an expert for the European Commission in the field of education. At SAVIS, Eugene leads the development of innovative interventions to enhance resilience and psychological wellbeing among humanitarian workers in crisis settings.

Nadia Monacelli is a researcher specializing in social psychology and intercultural dynamics, focusing on intergroup interactions and cultural and gender status asymmetries. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Geneva and is currently a member of the PhD Program in Social Psychology at the University of Parma. As the Technical Coordinator for Transcultural Approaches at SAVIS, Nadia contributes to the development of strategies to address psychological challenges in intercultural interventions, promoting an inclusive and innovative approach to the mental health of humanitarian workers.

Maman Azizou

Staff Care in Humanitarian Contexts Specialist

Maman Azizou is a highly skilled clinical psychologist with years of experience in providing psychosocial support and stress management for humanitarian workers in crisis settings. He has collaborated with international organizations such as Action Against Hunger and COOPI, playing a central role in delivering individual psychological support, leading post-trauma group interventions, and training managers and teams in stress and psychological risk management. His extensive experience in high-risk contexts, such as the Central African Republic and Niger, has made him an expert in preventing burnout and fostering psychological resilience. As Lead Trainer in Mental Health at SAVIS, Maman leads innovative training programs to strengthen the resilience of humanitarian workers and is dedicated to creating healthy working environments that support their mental wellbeing.

Cristina Mosso is an Associate Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Turin, with an academic career focused on researching psychological processes related to intergroup dynamics, stereotypes, and social justice. Holding a PhD in Social and Developmental Psychology, she has led research projects in collaboration with prestigious international institutions. As Head of Research and Innovation at SAVIS, Cristina leads the development of innovative approaches to support the mental wellbeing of humanitarian workers.

Amadou Hamani Ousseini

Clinical Psychologist and Trainer in Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing

Amadou Hamani Ousseini is an expert in clinical psychology, with advanced specialization in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology, his groundbreaking research on traditional PTSD management in Niger is transforming trauma treatment in culturally sensitive contexts. As a trainer and supervisor for the World Health Organization’s mental health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP), he has trained numerous professionals. Now, at SAVIS, Amadou plays a key role in developing psychosocial interventions to enhance the wellbeing of humanitarian workers.

Giulia Raffaelli brings extensive experience in external relations and managing international humanitarian projects. She has worked with UNHCR in countries such as Sudan, South Sudan, Iran, and Niger, where she held leadership roles in strategic communications and public relations. She has also served as program coordinator for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation. As Head of Partnerships and External Relations at SAVIS, Giulia is responsible for developing strategic collaborations and promoting advocacy initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of humanitarian and health workers.

Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist, Gender and LGBTQIA+ Specialist

Valentina Argento is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with an integrated cognitive-behavioral approach, specializing in gender and LGBTQIA+ issues at the individual, family, and group levels. As coordinator of the LGBTQIA+ Anti-Discrimination Center “Un Arcobaleno per Parma,” Valentina has gained expertise in supporting the psychological wellbeing of workers exposed to complex contexts. Her role as coordinator of the Street Unit in Parma has allowed her to focus on the care and resilience of workers, fostering a healthy and supportive work environment.
